ALIZÉ V is a wonderful example of the Abaco 40 series built by Bruckmann Yachts. Launched in 2012, she still feels, looks, and acts like a new boat (she has always been serviced and stored indoors in a heated building at Bruckmann Yachts and has spent most of her life in fresh water) and represents an opportunity to acquire an Abaco 40 without the wait of a new build. She is a handsome Express Cruiser with a distinctive ‘Downeast’ look and design with a single engine and running gear protected by a keel.

Abaco 40s are known for their elegant finish and solid construction, and are designed to be handled by one with wide side decks, proper rails, a transom door and best-in-class visibility from the helm and salon. With variable-speed bow and stern thrusters, maneuvering in tight quarters and docking is an absolute cinch. ALIZÉ V is a joy to helm in a seaway and rides comfortably at any speed in conditions that leave many others behind at the dock, thanks to a refined and proven hull designed by Mark Ellis.

ALIZÉ V comfortably accommodates two in the forward cabin, plus an additional two overnight guests on matching pilothouse settees. A large head with separate and proper-sized stall shower and generous galley round out the interior below. The salon and cockpit are the true focus of the yacht and will not disappoint, with room for the cruising couple by night and all of their friends and family by day.

Engine access is second-to-none in her size range, via hatches in the pilothouse and an access door from the galley to the front of the engine room. Powered with a 670 hp Cummins diesel, ALIZÉ V planes easily at 10-12 knots and cruises comfortably and economically at 22-24 knots, with a top speed of 29 knots -- all with a single engine!

The interior is finished in a Herreshoff style, with white bulkheads and beautiful high-gloss varnished mahogany doors and trim. Varnished teak and holly cabin sole.  Chrome overhead and courtesy lighting throughout.

The Forward Cabin has a large double V-berth with 6” foam. Outboard of the berths the hull ceiling planks are cedar, providing a nice contrast with the darker mahogany trim. Ample storage is provided by a bureau with drawers; hanging locker (cedar lined) and aircraft-style lockers above and outboard of the berths. Natural ventilation is provided from opening ports and a large overhead hatch. Two Ocean Frigast reading lights at V-berth.

Next aft, the Head is to starboard with VacuFlush toilet, stainless steel sink and large separate shower stall with adjustable-height shower nozzle. An opening port provides light and ventilation. Head features: Mahogany framed mirror; cup holder; towel rack.

Further aft to port is the ample U-shaped Galley, open above to the pilothouse, with excellent light and ventilation and room for two to whip up a proper meal.

The Salon/Pilothouse is up several steps, with the helm station forward to starboard and a varnished chart table to port. Stidd helm and companion chairs in white UltraLeather. There are mirror-image comfortable settees (6’-6” length, 5” thick) with hinged storage access - also in white UltraLeather - port and starboard with short ‘L’ sections aft. The varnished mahogany hi-lo pedestal table folds out to double in size and seats 4-6 comfortably. Sliding glass pilothouse windows provide light and ventilation.
