Caris is one of the best maintained and equipped Hylas 54's to be available on the brokerage market. The original owners spent approximately one year planning, researching, designing, talking with vendors and previous owners, reading asking a lot of questions and ultimately making good choices. The result is an exceptional offshore sailing yacht and very special Hylas 54.
The Hylas 54 is one of the world renowned designer German Frers most successful design quality built buy Queen Long. The equipment includes all of the luxury builder options, including electric winches and in mast furling, generator, reverse cycle A/C and 12 volt refrigeration and freezer.
Caris' current and second owner has invested in many upgrades and continue to keep her in Bristol condition ready for new offshore adventures.
This version of the Hylas 54 features a slightly lower profile at the deck salon. The resulting spacious main salon is a bright comfortable living area with excellent visibility through six fixed picture windows (four side and two forward. Privacy and sun protection is offered by custom teak blinds at each window without sacrificing visibility. Handholds throughout the main salon are within easy reach.
The spacious main salon is a bright comfortable living area with 6 fixed picture window (4 side and 2 forward). There are custom teak blinds for each of the windows and removable storm shutters. To port is a large L shaped settee with inboard sliding bench seat with removable backrest and storage. The enlarged table is fixed and supported by 2 polished stainless steel pedestals mounted onto a large stainless steel plate to stabilize the table. To starboard is a straight settee that slides out to make a 1 ½ berth with lee cloth for a sea berth. The settees are covered with Ultra Suede (new 2014). There are multiple, very large storage areas under and outboard of all settees and 4 large upper lockers, including a liquor locker with custom built wine glass racks. Two opening deck hatches, 2 Hella fans and excellent lighting including a built-in dual unit Canalupi Picture light, 5 reading lights, 3 variable overhead lights, 2 overhead alcove lights and Red LED night lights.
Entire interior finished in high gloss varnish (This costly option has worn well). Caris is the first of (to our knowledge) only 2 Hylas 54's with the extra. It was an expensive process but shows off the beautiful woodwork so much better that satin finish.
