Broker's Comments

Designed by Tripp Yacht Design, known for producing Fast and Stylish yachts, Serengeti is a 60' "Cafe Racer". This aptly describes the dual-purpose of "Serengeti" as she is equally capable of fast cruising as she is on the race course. Designed with a hydraulically lifting keel, which gives her the ability go into shallow waters, yet still sail without compromise.

Serengeti was built by the world renowned New Zealand boat builder, Ian Franklin. The construction details, fit and finish, as well as the beautiful woodwork all are testament to the builder's skills and the attention to details.

"Serengeti" is perfect for the discerning and knowledgeable sailor who enjoys fast comfortable cruising and perhaps the occasional race. She is a joy to sail and will get you to your destination quickly and in style.

Construction

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

·         The hull and deck are built using Aramid and E-Glass fibers over PVC cores.

·         The result is a very stiff hull with minimal weight.

·         The keel box for the lifting keel effectively locks the hull, deck and internal structure together into a complete unit.

·         The cockpit is very roomy and comfortable in both racing and cruising modes.

·         The dual mode dodgers offer full protection of the main hatchway and forward end of the cockpit. There is a dedicated life raft locker at the forward end of the cockpit which hold one of the two rafts.

·         The boat comes with a custom built cradle that can be broken down so that it fits inside a standard 20' shipping container.

·         Construction – Aramid & epoxy over foam core vacuum bagged.

·         Matterhorn white awlgrip hull & deck.

·         Bottom paint – awlgrip Alstar black.

Keel & Rudder:

·         “Serengeti" features a lifting keel with a range from 8.2' to 13.29'.

·         This unique feature allows the boat to achieve incredible performance as tile boat is extremely "stiff" while sailing.

·         By lowering the keel to full depth the boat achieves maximum righting moment with the least amount of overall displacement.

·         There is a 24 volt electric/hydraulic pump that raises and lowers the keel.

·         The keel can go from full down to the up position in about a minute and a half.

·         The keel is designed for easy service and has proven to be very reliable.

·         The shallow draft of 8.2' means that the boat can explore many harbors and spots that would normally be out of consideration for a performance minded boat like "Serengeti ".

·         Rudder – all carbon by NEB in 2004.
