Overview

Loblolly has always been maintained in near impeccable condition. Given her $400,000 +, extensive refit, “big ticket” improvements and major maintenance done since 2015, Loblolly represents truly outstanding value for the offering price, as compared to other similar 60-70’ yachts.

Since 2015, over 60 new components (including new generator, mechanical and electrical pumps, motors,

compasses, watermaker, washer/dryer, icemaker, Yamaha 40Hp outboard motor) have been installed plus a new Quantum mainsail, new cap rail gloss varnish and Sunbrella bimini, dodger, dinghy cover and main sail cover.

Loblolly has been privately used since commissioning by her original owners, who do not have children. Guest cabins have been used less than 5 nights a year during her entire ownership.

BROKER'S COMMENTS

Breathtakingly beautiful and presented in near immaculate condition, Loblolly is one of the finest examples of the very successful Oyster 62 model, featuring a number of unique features that are simply not available in any other yacht in this size and price point. Loblolly was spared no expense in build and has been in private use lovingly maintained with a light touch and an open checkbook by the same experienced, hands-on sailing couple that commissioned her and offer her for sale today.

Attention to detail is evident from the moment you step aboard. Designed from the very beginning for short handed sailing, on deck Loblolly features a rare hydraulic Leisure Furl in-boom furling system that both maximizes performance and allows for ease of handling and stowage, complimented by Reckmann hydraulic headsail furlers and hydraulic and electric winches that together offer a virtually push-button sailing experience. The 62 fits perfectly into the sweet spot of being simple to run by a shorthanded couple, but equally has the volume and accommodation to support either occasional or full time Captain and crew as needed. In cruising trim, Loblolly is sporty as well as being safe and comfortable - she can easily sail a 200 mile day.

Below decks, sophisticated B&G electronics, KVH satellite TV and a Bose Lifestyle sound system enhance your experience with all the luxuries one would expect in a yacht of this caliber. The interior features 5 generous staterooms, all finished in elegant teak joinery, including crew accommodation in the forward foc’sle and three heads throughout. All living spaces, except forepeak, are fully equipped with reverse cycle air conditioning and a standalone diesel heater makes cold weather or high latitude cruising an easy option. A gourmet galley complete with Miele dishwasher, Force 10 propane stove, and electric Ceran glass cooktop is designed to cater to even the most discerning chef, and ample storage allows stowage of gear and provisions for extended voyaging.

Below the waterline, the shoal draft keel draws a mere 6’7” and opens the door to exploring shallow waters other yachts in this size could only dream of voyaging; The Chesapeake, Bahamas, Florida and parts of the Caribbean and Pacific are now well within reach.

Loblolly comes to market fresh from a very extensive refit, boasting over $400k in recent improvements. Lift any floorboard and you will see clean bilges and just about everything is brand new, over 60 components in all, including: generator, watermaker, washer/dryer, ice maker, bimini, dodger, Quantum mainsail, the list of upgrades is long and impressive. Her inventory is complete with a comprehensive set of spares, stormsail, spinnaker and everything an intrepid sailor could wish for. Just climb aboard and set sail, Loblolly is turnkey and ready for her next adventure.

Addendum to specification

On October 25, 2013, it was discovered that Loblolly had an O.E.M bronze thru hull fitting that had failed. The leak eventually caused the bilge pump to fail and everything below the floorboards was flooded and ruined.

From that time until June 13, 2015, the vessel underwent a major re-fit. Virtually every single thing below the sole boards that was mechanical or electrical (e.g., generator, pumps, motors, wiring, steering, compasses, water maker) was replaced with like or comparable value and quality components. The work effort was overseen by a certified surveyor employed by Pantaenius Yacht Insurance.

In addition to replacing the defective bronze fitting that caused the event, a second “random” fitting was removed and inspected to ensure the defective fitting was not part of a “defective” batch of parts which could cause a subsequent problem to the vessel.

Her re-fit, other “big ticket” improvements and recent maintenance by the owners cost over $400,000. The detailed List is available. The boat was out of commission for twenty months.
