Overview

Designed by Holman and Pye, the Oyster 47 is the extended version of the successful Oyster 45. The spacious and comfortable interior layout was retained, whilst the extra length at the stern permitted a large lazarette locker, further enhancing the deck storage. The 47 also kept the Oyster rugged offshore trademarks of single-skin hull construction with massive ribs and stringers providing stiffness, balsa core to the deck for insulation, a keel-stepped mast, and full length skeg to protect the rudder.

Perhaps the best feature of the 47 is full width saloon, which has a lovely light and open feel due to the large deck saloon windows, two of which open to provide superb ventilation. The straight saloon seating provides two excellent sea-berths. When opened up, the wonderful saloon table connects the two settees, and enables a large number of guests to be entertained.  The aft end of the saloon is open to the galley, so the cook is also fully involved socially.

The dedicated navigation station is on the starboard side of the saloon, and just aft of this is a large walk-in locker, which can also be accessed from the cockpit. A hugely popular feature among 47 owners, this space can be used for storage, a workshop and location for a holding tank.

A great performer under sail, the 47 nonetheless has a reassuring motion offshore thanks to her balanced hull, fine entry, and the stiffness provided by her external lead bulb keel. The 47 is a proven circumnavigator, long distance blue-water cruiser and liveaboard, but due to her compact overall length she is also a great local family cruiser, as she is simplicity itself to handle. Oyster launched thirteen 47s between 2000 and 2004, to add to the twenty-three 45s.

Oyster Moon Dancing in the Dart is a well equipped bluewater cruising yacht with generator, watermaker, davits, microwave, radar/chartplotter with AIS, solar panels, wind generator, electric winches, bowthruster, in-mast furling, and SSB radio featuring in her specification.

Oyster Moon Dancing on the Dart has a simple and easy to handle sloop rig with in-mast furling mainsail and furling genoa. Both primary and secondary winches are electric. Below decks she sleeps six in three cabins, with another two sea-berths in the saloon if required, her hand crafted interior joinery is in the popular light oak, giving a light and contemporary feel.

Her owners have a larger yacht, so Oyster Moon Dancing in the Dart needs to be sold. Early viewing is recommended.
