Overview

The owner has recognized the large amount of ‘well spent’ dollars in preparing this three-stateroom cruiser for an extensive cruise to the South Pacific and beyond is a gift to the next owner.  Originally a fresh-water boat, the previous owners cruised extensively, sailing ‘double-handed’ on many ocean passages.  The extensive re-fit in 2012-2013 was painstakingly extensive covering all aspects of machinery and installations.   In 2014 the final stage of her preparation was completed with bottom and topsides stripped.  With her gleaming dark blue hull she has been sitting under cover on the ‘hard’  in anticipation of a new owner who will appreciate the extent to which she was prepared for a voyage not taken.

Accommodations

This is the only three cabin Valiant 50. Sleeps eight with three double, and two single berths.

The forward cabin features a large V berth with a seat and two hanging lockers, in addition to multiple lockers on each side and pull out drawers. The port side has a head with a large separate shower stall. The main salon has a fixed table in the center with leaves that rise to form a substantial table for dining with a large group. The port settee pulls out to form a double berth. The navigation station is aft of the starboard settee with a second head aft of the navigation station. The U-shaped galley is aft of the port settee, and features a four burner stove with oven, microwave, top loading fridge, and freezer. Ample storage all within reach of the cook. The port side aft has a cabin with a single berth and many lockers. It can be used as a storage room or sleeping cabin. The starboard quarter area has a large double berth that is particularly comfortable offshore. The interior is varnished cherry throughout. A unique feature is that the mast is not visible as it is paneled between the forward bulkhead and the port settee in the salon.   Salon dining table is cherry walk around with solid cherry top leaves and center storage with cherry fiddles. Port & starboard settees have blue ultra-suede cushions.

Bulkheads are marine plywood with cherry veneer. Solid cherry joiner trim and all cherry finished with pearl urethane. Sea rails and fiddles on all horizontal surfaces, laminated trim pieces on all arch door frames and bulkhead caps. Stainless handrails on rigid dodger cover and cabin sides.

Overhead liner has 1/8" Formica drop down panels for easy access to underside of deck and providing ventilation and access to deck hardware backing plates and lighting wiring. Reading lights over each berth.  Hull side-liner is horizontal ash ceiling battens screwed and plugged with varnish finish over 1" closed cell foam insulation.  Cabin sole is planked and plugged 1/2" thick solid teak with inlaid poplar strips applied over 1" thick marine plywood. Sole lift-outs are secured with mechanical locking devices.

Storage lockers are located behind the settee cushions and above port and starboard settees.  Additional lockers are located in the staterooms, galley, and head. Storage is also located below the berths in staterooms and in the bilge. Lockers are isolated from bilge with vents for maximum air circulation secured with flush mounted twist latches on all opening locker doors and drawers. Drawers are mounted on epoxy coated drawer slides. Three locking sliding track drawers are located in the galley pantry locker.

Portlights are Hood Passage Series stainless steel: 4 in forward stateroom, 6 in main salon, 2 in each aft stateroom, 1 in head, 1 in shower. All portlights can be held open by a matching stainless hanger. Ports can be covered from the inside for privacy at the dock with custom Sunbrella Curtains. There is an insect screen for the companionway.

Ventilation is handled by 12VDC fans located: 1 in each aft stateroom, 2 in main salon, and 2 in forward stateroom. 2 Valiant dorades, 1 in salon, 1 in forward stateroom. Dorade bell can be removed and box closed with stainless plate in heavy seas.
