Overview
The Beneteau 423 is one of the best cruising boats ever designed. The hull shape gives stellar performance in light and heavy air. It is really fun to sail and sailing is made easy with the inmast furling mainsail and furling genoa with primary winches that are easy to reach from the helm. The fin keel with modified bulb and long rudder, along with the bowthruster and folding prop, make Rhapsody easy to maneuver in tight spaces - in forward gear or reverse! The large cockpit with walk-through transom and wide transom step allows a crew of 4 or more to live comfortably as well giving easy access to the dinghy and to the water. The uncluttered side decks and bow make moving about, either at anchor or under way, a simple task.
The traditional cherry wood joinery below is rich and warm and is enhanced by an abundance of light provided by fixed overhead windows as well has numerous hatches and portlights which provide excellent ventilation. The layout is extremely 'liveable', with the galley tucked to starboard, guest cabin and day-head to port, comfortable salon and large master cabin with en-suite head in the bow. Rhapsody has a generator and an inverter, which allows one to run the airconditioning, microwave oven and other appliances while on anchor - you can gunkhole to your heart's delight.
Rhapsody (in Blue) is a one-owner boat and unusual for Beneteaus of that era in that she has blue trim, canvas and interior upholstery. The boat has spent it's life on the lower Chesapeake Bay, so is lightly used and has been hauled, waxed, bottom painted and engine serviced regularly.
Rhapsody's equipment includes:
Fischer Panda 5KW Generator (129 hours)
54 HP Yanmar Engine w/ low hours
Xantrex 3000W inverter
Lewmar electric windlass
Bowthruster
Flex-o-fold Folding Prop
CruiseAir Reverse Cycle Airconditioning (2 Units)
Raymarine Autopilot
Raymarine C80 Chartplotter
Inmast furling mainsail
Cockpit Cushions
Galvanic isolator
Dodger, bimini, connector
2 Cabin, 2 Head layout
Let Rhapsody be your passport to the weekend getaway on the water.
Accommodations
The interior wood is a classic cherry finish, which is offset by navy upholstery. The interior is light and well ventilated thanks to hatches and large opening ports as well as skylights/windows in the salon.
The Galley is to starboard as you descend the companionway, it tucks around the corner making an L. It has plenty of work surface and storage.
To port is the guest head and the aft cabin. The aft cabin has a queen berth with a sprung mattress and good storage. The head can be accessed from salon or aft cabin.
Forward of the head is the nav station, with contoured seat and a large, opening chart table. The 2-person port-side settee abutts the chart table.
The dinette is on the starboard side of the salon, with a curved settee that can seat 5 comfortably and a bench seat amidships, with storage beneath. The table can be lowered to form a third double berth for extra guests. The bench doubles as a very convenient foot rest for the port settee.
The master cabin is in the bow, with a double, centerline berth with spring mattress. There is storage to port and starboard as well as beneath the bunk and under a small bench seat to port. The head, with toilet, vanity and separate shower, is to starboard. Overhead hatches and portlights in the hull create a lot of light and provide excellent ventilation.
