Overview

Mystic Hearts is a rare offering of a Beneteau 473 Tommy Bahama Edition, with beige hull and canvas and Palm Tree theme throughout. The Tommy Bahama Palm Tree insignia is seen on the hull, near the bow and on the coachroof, on the UV cloth on the mainsail and table inlays in the cockpit and salon. The theme is carried through the interior in the rattan fronts to upper cabinetry, teak cabin sole, mattress upholstery in the aft cabin and on the bench seat in the salon.

The Beneteau 473 has a reputation for its solid feel and sleek hull shape which leads to superb sailing performance. Anyone who has sailed a 473 in big seas comments on the sea-kindliness and the feeling of safety. The cockpit is large and safe, dual helms allow for good control as well as flow to the swim platform; wide side decks & good hand holds on the coachroof allow easy passage to the bow.  Granny bars at the mast serve a multitude of functions. The interior accommodations are spacious and practical, with 2 cabins and 2 heads,  a large galley and plenty of room to entertain.

Accommodations

The cherry wood interior provides a traditional feel combined with the more modern introduction of light through fixed windows, opening hatches & portlights and plenty of ventilation. It is a rich mixture of airiness and traditional warmth.

In this 2  cabin- 2 head version of the Beneteau 473, the door to the forward/master cabin is offset to port.  The cabin has plentiful storage, which the owners supplemented with additional custom cabinets, on the port side and to starboard  a second locker with rattan front, above the standard locker, effectively doubling the storage capacity. Three opening hatches provide light and airflow and all have new OceanAir pull-out screens.  A queen-sized berth can be accessed from either side at the foot and has drawers beneath as well as a thick, hinged custom mattress made from multi-layered foam with foam topper.  A TV is located on the bulkhead which forms the wall of the head compartment.  The forward head is to starboard and has a separate shower stall.

The salon consists of a large U-shaped dinette to starboard, with a bench amidships. The bench provides added storage. The table has a leaf with the Tommy Bahama logo inlaid, to extend it and allow it to easily seat 6. It lowers to form a double berth.  Across from the dinette is a straight 2-person  settee. Aft of that is the forward facing, nav station with ergonimically friendly seat with storage below.  Behind the nav station is the aft head which can be accessed from the salon or from the aft cabin.  The aft cabin has a large double berth & storage locker. It is accessed through door in the port, aft bulkhead.

The galley runs along the starboard hull from the base of the stairs to the aft bulkhead.  The galley is L-shaped and provides plenty of work space and storage. It has Corian countertops and a custom teak lid for the top-opening freezer.  The teak lid is lighter, better insulated and sealed than the original.  A front-opening fridge & oven are situated along the hull-side, with cabinets above counter level and a microwave oven recessed into the aft bulkhead. Through the bulkhead at the rear of the galley is a door that leads into the cockpit locker, which can serve as extra storage.
