Welcome aboard the Beneteau 523 Clipper.
Boarding from the stern, you have a comfortable platform that also doubles as storage with two teak covered hatches. To Starboard is a flip down 5 step ladder, which is much more sturdy and easier to use than the sliding type.
To the right of the ladder, on the aft railing is a bracket for the dinghy outboard motor. Also on the starboard side of the transom is the 50 Amp shorepower connector.
You will also notice this sailboat has a convenient split backstay. A 10' dinghy and small outboard is included and stowable up on the stainless steel dinghy davit.
Two steps up from the swim platform, two small fiberglass doors swing inboard to allow access to the cockpit.
The cockpit is very spacious with a T-Shape, covered in teak. Dual helms with seating for 2 at each helm, plus seating area across the table accommodates 8 people for meals.
Throtte, engine gauges, bow thruster control, anemometer and Raydata are found at the starboard helm. A cigarette lighter adapter comes in handy for charging any smartphones and tablets.
The Autopilot is at the port helm. Both helms have compasses, and the chartplotter is on a swivel base on the aft end of the cockpit center console.
Helm seats double as lockers for propane and gear. A gas grill is attached to the railing of the starboard helm.
A full length bimini, transition piece and dodger protect the entire cockpit from seaspray and weather.
Forward on port side of the cockpit is the 2-speed power winch for halyards and mainsheet. Three convenient elastic chords keep the lines organized. With the exception of the jib furler lines and jib/genoa sheets, all other halyards and control lines come here to the winches at this bulkhead.
Just 4 steps down the companionway, you now appreciate the bright and beamy saloon, with a large U-shaped settee that accommodates 6 guests comfortably, plus a 2 person settee along the centerline of the boat, just across from the dining table. A console behind this settee serves as storage and bracing for the chef working in the galley directly on the starboard side of the saloon. All this upholstery is new.
This large U-shaped galley has two large refrigerator/freezers aft, which create a very large working surface above them. Forward of that is a four burner stove and oven, and then on the forward side of the "U" a double sink and microwave.
Starboard and aft of the galley is the nav station. Light abounds in this entire saloon, thanks to the portals, coach roof hatches and three fixed windshields forward. Sunlight is also restricted with accordion type blinds throughout.
The cabins are more comfortable than one would expect, compared even to older Beneteaus. All four cabins have ensuite heads / showers. The design is contemporary and warm, with aqua colored glass tops and cherry cabinets under the sinks and on the side for storing towels and other accoutrements.
The aft cabins have their queen berths aft, and the heads on the forward end, just inside the cabin entry door.
The forward cabins have pullman style berths on the outboard side, and the heads are at the forward end.
The engine room is accessible under the stairs and on each side. No sail-drive here. This is a traditional and worry-free direct drive.
Now let's work our way back outside to the deck. Swinging your leg over the back of the cockpit lazarette you will find a step halfway to the side deck, so you don't have to do acrobatics to come in or out.
On the aft quarter you will see the wind generator. This vessel has been 6 years in charter without a diesel generator or solar panels, charging batteries solely with this wind generator and when running the main engine.
At this corner you will also find the Life Sling, also neatly covered with a matching navy blue canvas like the grill is on the starboard side.
Moving forward you will notice the long jib/genoa sheet tracks. Perfect for a 130% Genoa. The sidedecks are wide and safe with something to hold onto along the way forward, like the stainless tubes over the coachroof scuppers, longitudinal rails and the mast pulpit.
Just forward of the dodger is the mainsail traveler. All control lines and halyards are lead back to the cockpit.
Forward of the traveler you will find two saloon hatches and three fixed windshields.
At the mast you have a rigid telescopic boom vang, and a fully battened stacked sail where you can work safely with the support of a mast pulpit on both sides. A matching navy blue stackpack protects the sails from the sun. Lazy jacks make it easy for raising and lowering the main.
Moving forward of the mast you find 6 hatches. A large one for each cabin, a medium size for each cabin head, and a large one for access to the crew cabin, and a small hatch for the crew cabin head.
Finally, reaching the bow you will find a staysail support, a vertical spindle electric windlass, a chainlocker where you will find a remote control for the windlass, and two plow anchors on rollers. Naturally, also a Genoa furler.
You will find this captained vessel to be well maintained and in very good condition.
