Overview

2004 40' Cabo Express "ALEXA RAE"

Alexa Rae” is a fantastic example of a true Cabo, built in Adelento, CA.  She is an ORIGINAL OWNER VESSEL!!  Her Michael Peters hull design sets the standard by which all other boats this size are measured.  She has a sharp entry with a large bow flare for a soft dry head sea ride.  Her wide beam, shallow draft and partial keel make for a stable comfortable ride in both beam and following seas.  Cabo build quality, fit, finish and electrical engineering is well known as best in class.  “Alexa Rae” has been used as a family fishing and diving boat her whole life.  She has been well cared for and nicely updated over the years.  If you are in the market for a rigged out 40 foot express boat, your search should start and end with “Alexa Rae.”

Walkthrough and Accommodations

Cockpit

The cockpit of the 40 Cabo Alexa Rae is all business!  Whether fishing, diving or cocktail cruising she has it all.  Her 15’9” beam is very evident and there is tons of room to work and maneuver.  Cockpit features include:

  • Custom rocket launcher
  • Cockpit canvas cover
  • Livewell
  • oversize tuna door w/ lift gate
  • Twin macerated fish boxes
  • Eskimo ice chipper
  • Stand up bait prep and sink
  • Bait freezer
  • Insulated drink box
  • Fresh and salt water washdown

Helm deck

Two small steps up from the cockpit brings you the raised helm deck.  She is very comfortably appointed and offers great seating and views of all the action.  There is an L shaped seating area to port.  Across to stbd is a tackle storage center with a flat top.  This spot is good for a great many things.  I have seen it used as a bar, hors de orves serving, tackle and gear placement, and even a nice elevated seat. Additional helm deck highlights include:

  • 24,000 BTU helm deck air conditioner
  • Hydraulic rams for lift up engine room access
  • Captain and companion STIDD helm chairs
  • Indoor outdoor helm deck carpeting
  • Centerline helm station
  • Tackle and gear storage
  • Pancake style teaser reels
  • Updated isinslass enclosure
  • Full complement of Navigation electronics including Furuno charplotter and radar, secondary NorthStar 6000I chart plotter, Icom VHF radio, Furuno RD 30 for speed, temp and depth, and Simrad auto pilot

Lower Accommodations

Just to starboard of the centerline helm is a heavy plexiglass door that slides open to access the lower accommodations.  Three steps down brings you in the salon/galley area.  The Cabo interior finish is simple, but like the rest of the boat best in class.  The salon sole is solid teak and holly, a factory option, and all the cabinetry is solid satin finished teak.

To Starboard is the L shaped ultra leather sofa with high gloss teak table.  This table is removable and then the sofa transforms into a pull out bed and the back flips up to create a bunk. Also to starbaord aft is a large stand up rod locker.

To port is the galley and aft is a full head.   Features include:

  • Corian countertops
  • Solid teak cabinetry
  • Side by side refrigerator / freezer
  • Two burner electric cook top
  • Deep sink basin
  • Tons of storage
  • Microwave/Convection oven
  • Large head and HUGE shower, AC vent in head, mirror, storage, Vacuflush marine toilet w/ tank indicator light

 Master Stateroom

“Alexa Rae” has a hard bulk head and door giving separation and privacy to the Master Stateroom.  Additional highlight and feature include:

  • Island queen berth with storage underneath
  • Dual cedar lined hanging lockers
  • Port and starboard elevated rod storage cabinets
  • Solid satin finished teak woodwork with Cabo signature cross hatch vents
  • Separate climate controls
  • Solid teak and holly sole

TOWER

“Alexa Rae” has a custom tuna tower.  She has a Furuno Nav Net unit up in the tower to compliment the one below, CAT controls, and auto pilot.

ENGINE ROOM

The engine room on the 40 Cabo has a glassed in gel coat liner that makes clean up a breeze.  Fluids, oil or dirt does not get into the fiberglass filaments and texture like other inferior finished vessels.  The engine room on Alexa Rae shows well, just like the rest of the vessel.  You can access it from a helm deck day hatch or tilt it up for huge access on two large hydraulic rams.  Some of the engine room highlights include:

  • CAT C 12 power (3,675 hours) life time maintenance records available, over 2500 trolling hours,
  • Westerbeke gen set (Electrical side needs to be rebuilt)
  • Reverso oil changing system
  • Electric fuel priming pumps
  • Racor fuel filter
  • Battery charging system

**Disclosure**

In 2005 Alexa Rae had a grounding incident that resulted in the running gear and transmissions being replaced.  All records are available upon request.
