Overview
MK II Model of the most popular 30 footer ever built. This particular boat had an extensive refit, interior re-varnished, etc. in 2009. Additional changes this year to modernize the appearance and make it easier to maintain. It is in excellent condition. The owner wants to move up.
New Sailing Services Standing Rigging and Life Lines in 2009. Experts say the standing rigging should be changed every 10-15 years in salt water. Very, very few ever do. Ask about the boat you are looking at. If it is more than 10-15 years old and does not have new standing rigging then add approximately $5,000 to the sale price. Remember, this is all that keeps the mast up.
This is the 30 Catalina Mark II. This model features many styling, hardware and physical improvements over the original one. Along with a sleeker cabin profile, deck hatch changes, sidelights and opening port replacements, the most notable change was the addition of a "T" shaped cockpit with raised contoured helmsman's seat to allow for comfortable use of the steering pedestal. The cockpit look was updated by removing some of the frilly teak around the hatch. The cabin top grab rails were moved outboard and recessed. An improved recessed location was used for the port and starboard genoa tracks. All halyards and the main sheet were led aft for ease. The traveler system was improved. Also included was a better looking and more useful chart table and electric panel.
Easy to find spare parts for this model; available from the Catalina factory or from Catalina Direct.
Standard and Optional Equiptment
This is a nice Catalina 30 Mark II sail with lots of neat stuff. New UK loose footed mainsail added in 2016. New Sailing Services standing rigging 2009; most Catalina 30's this vintage have original rigging which is good for about 15 years. New mast head w/new sheaves 2009. New life lines and hooks added in 2009.
This year many items have been added to give this Catalina a modern flare and make it easier to care for: Starboard hatch sliders, Starboard coaming compartment covers, stainless sliding hatch handle and just added stainless steel grab rails on the cabin top.
Most of all You will like this boat because it is not a project boat; it is ready to go sailing. Sail right away.
