Description

"Double Eagle" was designed and manufactured to move. Certified at 30 miles per hours under sail this cat is fast.

The structure is sound. The hulls have been modified from a McGregor 36, stripped cold tar epoxied and painted with M17 marine paint. And with the retractable dagger boards have a minimum draft of 1'. Beaching this boat is possible.

The footloose boom-less main sail attached to the winged rotating mast provides an increase of up to 15%  in power over conventional cats and the ability to head this vessel higher while reduce chances of injury from swinging booms mishaps.

Each hull has a single berth and plenty of storage space. The port hull also is where the portable head is located.

Moving on this cat is easy the solid 20' beamed uncluttered cockpit platform offers plenty of room for crew and passengers. The webbed trampoline is a great place for lounging.

The boat is powered by 2 Ray electric 400 motors, The 8-105v ADM batteries provide the energy to propel "Double Eagle" a range of 40 - 50 miles at 7knts. Gas/diesel and oil smell and mess has been totally eliminated. The motors are placed in tandem and steering is done by the wheel at the helm station.

The standing rigging has upgraded in the last 2 years; the running rigging is in excellent condition.

The ground tackle includes a 25 Lbs. Danforth anchor connected to 100' of chain.

Why buy this boat?

There are two different reasons why you should purchase this boat: Weekend champion or sailing excursion business.

Weekend champion:

This boat is just fast. With it's 20' beam it is also stable. The rotating wing mast provides an advantage over all the other racers. When heading up the mast rotated to provide a more even plan for the sail to foil - reducing turbulence. This accounts for the speed and since the angle changes so does the heading of the boat which would allow a closer heading to the wind - other advantage.

It's a fun boat to sail and to race.

Sailing Excursion Business:

The current owner had purchased this boat with the intent of starting a day sailing excursion business. He has outfitted the boat with electrical motors to reduce the cost of operation and increase the safety by not having to carry flammable fluids.

The boat with its small draft can be pulled close to shore to allow passengers to board.

The boom-less main reduces the chance of injury. The wide stable deck allows easy movement on the boat. And it's fast; providing the thrill of sailing.

This vessel delivers a low cost entry and operates into the excursion business.
