History
Utiekah III has a history that goes back to the time she was first built in 1923, completed 1925 in Tasmania, Australia. She is 90 years young in January 2015 and has experienced many journeys with her owners and her diversity during her life on this planet is worth a listen. She has endured Bass Straight over 25 times and defies this mysterious, angry ocean with courage and ownership because that is what she was built for. She was the first Australian yacht to sail to the south Pacific in 1927 She has traveled to New Guinea, Thailand, East & West Malaysia and Borneo but is happiest with winds aplenty thrusting her 38 tons of might through the ocean with class. During part of her life she had been used as a training yacht for over 4500 youths at Melbourne Grammer School who still to this day recall their most memorable in schooling were learnt on the decks of Utiekah III. There was a time in her life where she was badly neglected but then came along her present owner who has gutted and rebuilt the interior of this grand lady keeping the appearance in line with the era in which she was constructed so that her history will not be lost. In the 39 years of ownership, her present owner has treasured, loved and lived for keeping Utiekah III in a responsible, safe and sound condition appropriate to sea-worthiness but it is now time that a younger owner step in and lead her in another direction that she so deserves. This yacht is not for the faint hearted but one who is passionate about the sea and the pure love of sailing.
