J Boats makes the ultimate fast cruiser. Heron has proven this with a 2nd place finish in Class A of the Marion to Bermuda race as well as many miles of cruising between Canada and Grenada. The blue hull and sleek lines make Heron a head-turner, both at anchor and under sail - especially when flying her starred spinnaker. Her length-to-beam ratio, efficient keel, and tall, carbon rig, along with quality sails, electric primary winches, carbon wheel and custom rudder bearings make Heron sea-kindly and light on the helm. The owner worked with the factory on numerous improvements, to both sailing systems and interior appointments to make this boat one-of-a-kind.
The cherry interior is gorgeous. It is warm, inviting and well laid out for ease of living. With the galley and head close to the companionway for easy access to and from the cockpit, 2 aft cabins, comfortable salon, a cozy navigation station and private owner's suite forward, the boat is well appointed for the live-aboard lifestyle of a couple, a family out cruising or a crew on a long distance race.
Heron has the following:
Heron is a highly refined cruising machine, with the looks and performance to delight the most demanding sailor!
The interior cabinetry is Cherry, with Cherry veneer bulkheads, Cherry overhead handrails, dorade vent covers, fiddles, raised panel doors and instrument panels at chart table.
Companionway stairs lead to port and starboard aft cabins. Each cabin has a double berth and plentiful storage, as well as a customized, fixed portlight in the hull, for extra light. There is access to the engine from behind the door in each cabin; the generator, water heater, prop shaft and filters can be accessed by removing the midships bulkhead at the back of each cabin.
Forward of the starboard cabin is the aft head which has a door into the cabin and another into the salon. It has Corian counter tops, shower and Vacuflush head.
The Galley is U-Shaped and situated to port, with stove and storage down the hull, fridge/s and freezer running athwartships and the sink and further storage running fore and aft, amidships.
The Nav station is tucked in forward of the head. It has a dedicated seat, large chart table with an interior sliding shelf, custom storage bin outboard and instruments mounted for ease of viewing and access.
The Salon has a straight settee to starboard, with water tank below, storage behind and above. Salon upholstery is cream Ultra-leather, with slip covers for both settees & nav seat. The Salon table is situated midships and includes removable fiddles, wine storage and leaves that can be raised to reach each settee. The port settee is L-shaped and has water tank below, storage behind and a pilot berth above. Both settees have a 1" extension. There is a fixed port in each hull-side above the settees adding light to the interior and a view of the water from the salon.
The forward cabin has a pullman berth to port with drawers under the bunk and lockers along the port hull. To starboard is additional storage as well as a custom desk with cherry top and swing stool.
The forward head is in the bow and has a separate shower/wet locker forward, with head and basin just aft. Corian countertops and Vacuflush head.
A collision bulkhead separates the forward head from a large foredeck locker which houses manual and electric pumps, dual rode lockers and provides storage for sails, dinghy, and cruising gear.
