Accommodations

Starting aft there is a full width master stateroom. There is a double bed to port and an oversized single berth to starboard plus two bathrooms, one with bidet and separate large stall shower. Also accessed from a wide, aft centreline passageway are the two guest cabins. Each cabin contains two single berths and en suite shower room. The owner/guest areas are beautifully done in lacquer finish with teak trim. All of the flooring on “ORION” is teak and the headliners are Magalite (renewed  2010-2012). The aft corridor in the owner/guest area leads either up four steps to the pilothouse, or through a door into the stand-up engine room. The pilothouse is finished in teak with a seating area and coffee table to port and a navigation helm station to starboard. This full width area provides multiple benefits; inside steering station, separation between living and sleeping areas, alternative lounging/dining area above the lower saloon, convenient access to the cockpit with a minimum number of steps and improved headroom in the engine room. The low profile pilothouse is also designed with excellent forward visibility from the cockpit.

Down three steps, one enters the full width main saloon. This area is finished in ash and has large port holes in the hull for excellent viewing while seated. There is a couch and seat to port and a large circular dining area to starboard. An LCD Television,  DVD and stereo surround sound,  and china locker are also located in the saloon making it very comfortable for entertaining or lounging.

Forward from the lower saloon one enters the galley. Opposite the galley is a dinette and built-in washer and dryer. Forward of the galley and dinette are two matching crew cabins with private heads.

“ORION” contains numerous large opening ports in the hull plus opening ports in the trunk to provide an abundance of natural light and fresh air. There are also deck prisms and six dorades.

Hull

ORION (the former “SAPPHIRE” and before “JUBILEE VII”) was built in 1986 at the Belliure Shipyard to the design of the highly regarded Ron Holland. Both hull and deck were hand laid fibreglass on female moulds. The laminate coring is Divicell and there is Kevlar used in the hull for added strength. Large aluminium ring frames were used in the way of the mast and mizzen mast. The decks and cabin trunk top are laid in teak. The superstructure has recently been painted white. She is MCA Compliant – Commercial Registration

Remarks
