Overview

Samba is a very clean 2001 Catalina 42 with the shoal keel draft of 4'10"! Planning to cruise Florida and the Bahamas, Samba will take you there in comfort. 

2001 Catalina 42 Samba Accomodations

Beginning forward is the head compartment, with separate shower, followed by the vanity counter, sink and head. Next is the large Pullman berth to port and drawer and hanging locker storage to port. Beneath the berth are two large drawers. Moving aft into the salon, the chart table is to starboard, followed by a settee. Opposite is the large convertible C-shaped dinette. Storage is outboard and beneath the settees. Next aft to starboard is the aft head/shower compartment with ingress from both the salon and aft cabin. Further aft is the spacious double aft cabin. Opposite the aft head compartment is the large L-shaped galley, followed by storage and access to the batteries and aft storage lockers. Very generous storage throughout, ventilation and daylight is abundant, creating a very inviting interior. Interior woods are varnished teak veneers and solids.

2001 Catalina 42 Samba Galley

The L-shaped galley is at the base of the companionway and to port, with double s/s sinks at the inboard side and close to the centerline. To the right of the sinks are a number of drawers for utensils, etc., as well as additional storage below the sinks, Moving outboard is a large dry storage locker with countertop access. This factory insulated locker is 4.24 c/ft, and could be additional refrigeration and/or freezer storage with the inclusion of a second refrigeration system. Turning outboard is a 3-burner Hillerange gimbled stove with oven, followed by the front and top loading refrigeration locker. Above the stove is a microwave oven and storage lockers to either side. Aft of the refrigeration locker is a "Lazy Susan"-type cabinet, followed by three lockers aft of it. Opposite the refrigerator is a hinged Granitecoat work surface for even more working area. The galley is very well suited for the preparation of meals while underway or at anchor, and has very generous storage capacities.

2001 Catalina 42 Samba Hull and Deck

The white hull with navy blue boot stripe is a single piece hand laid GRP construction with externally attached lead wing keel and spade rudder. There is a partial skeg forward of the rudder. The outer skin of the hull is vinylesther resin, and the hull is solid lamination(no coring). The white deck is also a single piece hand layed GRP construction with molded diamond pattern gray nonskid. The hull-to-deck joint is a hatbox-type marriage, then covered with an aluminum rub rail with vinyl insert. At the bow is a single anchor roller followed by a recessed chain locker with dual direction electric anchor windlass. The inboard chain plates coupled with wide side decks afford unimpeded movement fore and aft.

2001 Catalina 42 Samba Sails and Rigging

Equipped with a Charleston Spars anodized aluminum keel stepped mast with swept back double spreaders. Standing rigging is 1x19 s/s wire rope terminating on inboard chain plates. Running rigging is braided with all sail control lines routed to the cockpit to sheet stoppers and 2-speed self-tailing winches. The Garhauer rigid vang has a block & tackle adjustment.
