The KP 46' is the extended higher performance version of the KP44. Only 30 of the 46's were produced, and unlike the 44's, all were personally supervised by the designer, Jack Kelly, at the prestigious Queen Long boat yard in Taiwan.
Magic had many upgrades to the boat in 2012 and 2013. These include running rigging, reefing lines led aft to cockpit, boom, Mack Pack Lazy Jack cover, a B&G Wind unit, rigid vang, and complete service on the winches.
Offset double berth forward with ensuite head and shower; side storage and lockers to port. The spacious salon has dinette to starboard and settee to port with serving bar attaching to galley. Across from galley (starboard) is a dedicated navigation station with seat. Next, a walk thru, which houses the engine access and storage compartments, takes you full aft to the master stateroom with queen offset berth, dressing seat and full sized ensuite head and shower. There is 6'5" headroom throughout.
The chain locker is forward followed by the guest v-berth cabin. Foward head and shower is just aft of the v-berth cabin. The salon is amidship with settee / berth to port and a wrap around dinette table to starboard.

The KP has two companion ways fore and aft to the master stateroom. The 46 KP has lengthened cockpit. It is center cockpit cutter rigged and great room, full wide decks. Down below, aft is a centerline queen. These are 2 staterooms with the V-berth forward. A galley is portside – no double walkthrough. And there is space on the KP 46 where that portside combing opens for a workroom.
Engine access is excellent from both sides. The Kelly Peterson was part of the era of performance cruisers started by the Valiant 40. She has a long fin keel and skeg hung rudder. She was meant to sail well in any wind. Her sheerline sharply increases forward making her a dryer than usual center cockpit.
