The LeComte Northeast 38 MK II, designed by famed naval architect William (Bill) Tripp and Dolf LeComte. Built in Holland to the highest Lloyd’s standards. Only the highest quality materials went into the creation of the Northeast 38s. There were 60 of these classic beauties produced between 1962 and 1970. With her sweeping sheer and graceful overhangs. The owner has spared no expense in maintaining and upgrading Cynara to first class condition. Cynara exudes the same rakish elegance of her sister designs, the Hinckley Bermuda 40 and the Block Island 40. A true head-turner in any harbor. 

Accommodations

Entire interior woodwork was stripped and varnished 2015.
Starting forward is a chain locker. Next aft is the v-berth stateroom. There is a filler piece for the v-berth, storage drawers below the berth and a large hanging locker to starboard. To port are several drawers with a shelf, overhead hatch and opening port. Lower starboard berth pulls out to provide wider berth.
Next aft to port is the head with a new marine toilet 2015. There is a sink with pressure water. Lockers and drawers provide storage. Opening port provides light and ventilation. Holding tank for head with Y-valve.
Across from the head to starboard is a full size wet locker.
The main salon has a straight settee to starboard with a pilot berth above and outboard. There is drawer storage below each berth.
To port is an L-shaped settee and table. This seats 4-6 people for dinner. Dinette table lowers to convert dinette area to double berth. A table extension included with a piano hinge to make a wider table.
Perhaps the most distinctive feature are the over-size ports in the main salon, which creates abundant light and fabulous views.
To starboard at the base of the companionway is a chart table with a quarter berth aft. Teak and holly cabin sole, varnished teak interior. New white suede interior cushions 2015.

Galley

The galley is aft to port at the bottom of the companionway ladder. Galley features are; large icebox and stainless steel sink with pressure water. There is storage for plates and cups aft and outboard. No stove or oven.

Cockpit & Deck

The cockpit has teak inlay seating surfaces and teak grating on the sole. Varnished coamings make for a secure and comfortable cockpit.  New white Cockpit Cushions 2015.
New Lewmar self tailing primary and secondary winches, and an electric anchor windlass, make shorthanded sailing a breeze.  
Teak hatches and handrails are all varnished.
Twin dorade vents augment ventilation below decks. New large ports in main salon 2015.
Deep cockpit lockers and aft lazarette locker provide abundant storage.

Deck and Deck Equipment

A large cockpit has high-varnished teak coamings around it. The seats are inlay teak and holly. Off white nonskid decks. Binnacle wheel steering. Custom stainless steel traveler in front of wheel. Wide side decks. Solid varnished teak handrails. Two large overhead hatches provide light and ventilation in the salon and forward cabin.

Construction and Design Features

The Le Comte 38 is a comfortable sea boat. With her long overhangs and lovely sheer she is a head turner in any harbor. This design provides a stable platform with wide side decks. With her deep forefoot she will avoid pounding and she has the substance to shoulder through a heavy sea.

Cynara is a great value for a family or couple looking for a classic sailboat that has been well maintained and upgraded to her current outstanding condition.

The hull is hand laid solid fiberglass with longitudinal stringers. The deck is Airex cored except in areas of heavy compression where it is cored with Bruynzeel plywood. Bulkheads are isolated from the hull with Airex and secured with heavy tabbing. External lead keel. Three blade bronze prop '14. Stainless steel stern and bow pulpits, double lifelines custom stainless steel hardware and fittings on deck.

The Le Comte is heavily constructed and has stood the test of time. Cynara is an Awlgrip white hull '13, with gold cove strip, red bottom and blue boot. High flared toe-rails, teak inlay cockpit lockers, and Varnished handrails and drop boards.
