“Tsunami” is the only 55 footer Merritt has ever built, she is a unique and classic example of the builders sportfishing expertise. She has undergone a major complete refit at the Merritt yard, which includes a new mezzanine cockpit with new fuel tanks, new teak deck and new cockpit freezer in 2010. She had a complete redo of the pump room including new water tanks, new A/C and refrigeration compressors, watermaker, plumbing and electrical in 2009.
She had a complete interior makeover in 2009 with new countertops, wall coverings, headliner, new u-shaped salon leather settee with storage under, 2-new barrel chairs, tackle drawers and pop-up TV with custom entertainment cabinet. She has all new stone countertops throughout the salon, galley and both heads. Both heads have been updated with new wall coverings, fixtures, mirrors and all interior woodwork has been refinished with satin varnish coatings.
Also in 2009, she had an engine room redo with new hull air boxes, new hoses, new hydraulic steering and a general reorganizing to clean things up. Her engines have been gone through with new water pumps, blueprinted turbos, as well as fuel and cooling system services.
She has had a new Pipewelders tower and complete paintjob in 2008, and in 2009 all varnish stripped and refinished with over 25 coats of Schooner Varnish. She had a new bow rail installed in 2009. A new custom C-Worthy enclosure with Strataglas was installed in 2009 along with new bridge cushions, new cockpit cover, new transom cover and mezzanine cushions.
“Tsunami” has been painstakingly restored and updated and her owner has been meticulous with her care and maintenance and it shows. The boat has been kept under the shed at Merritt’s and has been diligently maintained. She is a very economical boat to operate burning less than 50 gallons an hour at a 25knot cruise. She fishes with the all the benefits of a custom boat and handles with an agility and ease while fighting fish that makes it easy on angler and crew.
“Tsunami” is a unique one-of-a-kind boat that highlights the builder’s ability to create a beautiful classy boat with finely detailed woodwork while maintaining its purpose with fishing functionality.

“Tsunami” is one of a kind in that she is the only 55’ ever built by the famed Merritt yard. Her unique interior Burl Walnut and satin finished teak panels are appreciated by all wood lovers that come aboard. She is completely refit in 2009/2010 —exterior and interior. She is ready for your rods and some great fishing action. Burning less than 50 gallons an hour at her 28 knot cruise is perhaps one of the most appealing attributes of all. However, her reknown sheer, fine styling, Bristol brightwork and storied lineage is always commented on when you back into the slip.
