“AIOLOS” is a custom 38’ sloop from the drawing tables of Sparkman and Stephens (S&S Design #2091). Her name is taken from Greek mythology in the Odysseus Stories; Aiolos is the name of the God of the Winds. Her hull and deck were built by Finn-Craft in Finland, with a production run of the model starting in 1971. She was the sixth and last one made; she came out of the mold in 1981. She was then towed to the boat builder J-H Johanssen in Krako, Finland for installation of her joinery and was completed in 1982. Below deck is finished in Koto wood, which is a light clear teak from North Africa. That is trimmed in Mahogany, giving an elegant and unique look to the boat. A truly rare find, she is a classic racer/cruiser and has a proven ocean pedigree, having been sailed from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean and back several times. Her current owner has been an excellent steward, having maintained her regularly and using the best products he could find. Just a few highlights:
There’s much more. Aiolos is a truly unique boat. A very traditional racer/cruiser, she’s not for everyone. He has kept her traditional on purpose. For those that can appreciate a unique classic, she’s like owning a restored ’56 T-Bird or XKE Jag. If these pictures and the listing intrigue you, give us a call and arrange a showing.
