Overview

Distant Drummer lll is a beautifully restored CT 47 center cockpit from the design team of Kaufman and Ladd. Well known for their graceful lines and superb sailing performance, the CT 47 also features a solid fiberglass hull.

The original owner of this 2 stateroom/2 head center cockpit had a custom interior design that consisted of numerous intricately carved bulkheads and locker fronts.

The best feature of the boat is her sailing performance which combines a good turn of speed with the safety of a well built boat.

The 5 year restoration was thorough, from rewiring the boat, to replumbing to new sail, rigging, engine, canvas , upholstery, paint, electronics, bow thruster and water maker.

Accommodations

Distant Drummer features a beautiful custom teak interior specially ordered by the original owner.

All the way forward is the "V" berth which is nicely appointed and features a new cushioned mattress. this berth can be used as twin singles or with the insert a large double. There are plenty of drawers and lockers for storage.

Next aft is the guest head with Groco toilet,sink ,vanity ,mirror and shower.

The main salon is beautiful with intricate teak bulkhead carvings, numerous lockers for storage and recent upholstery. There is a stainless compression post as the mast is deck stepped thus eliminating water coming down through the mast and rotting the mast step.

The lighting is all LED and the salon is fully air conditioned.

Farther aft to port is the galley and across is a chart table and the main electrical panel. It is custom made and and handles both 110v and 12v.

The chart area features an opening chart table with numerous instruments well within reach.

Just aft, there is a stand up chart area with the Westerbeke generator in a sound shield built in.

Down the hallway we get to the aft cabin. There is a double bed to port with a settee. There is a number of locker and drawers for storage.

The owners head features an electric toilet,mirror,vanity storage plus a shower stall.

The galley is well designed for at anchor use or while under way. Features include:

The Restoration

Distant Drummer has been fully restored by her present owner over a period of 5 years. She was brought on shore to a shop where she was basically taken down to bare bones. She was rewired and replumbed for starters then gradually each section of the interior was upgraded.

The mast and boom were taken apart, then painted with white awlgrip and put back together with new parts. She was re rigged with new wire and the chain plates were inspected at the same time. Spectra, non stretch line was used for halyards and reefing lines.

The deck was awlgripped with non skid paint to a high standard. The hull was painted in flag blue. 

Next came new sails,canvas, windlass,electronics and finally a new Yanmar 56 hp diesel engine.

With the restoration nearly complete, Drummer was trucked to Florida to begin her new cruising life.
