Accommodations

The layout of this exquisite, Henry A. Scheel designed daysailer centers around the wonderful cockpit area with a cushioned lounging area forward and a large teak table in the middle which are perfect for accommodating and entertaining guest and family while underway regardless of their sailing ability. The mahogany bright work, polished stainless fittings and laid teak deck afford a rich atmosphere of days gone by. The aft end of the cockpit is given over to controlling the yacht. The atmosphere is still the same, but the stainless controls operate modern machinery like electric winches, roller furling sails and twin engines which make PATRICIAN incredibly easy to sail and dock with only one or two experienced sailors on board. Below there is a head, galley area, chart table and two large comfortable berths for naps underway and the occasional overnight. The inside of the wooden hull and the frames are varnished to show off the incredible craftsmanship of the Van Dam Wood Craft and adds a warm, classic feel to the area

Construction

The hull is cold molded with 4 layers of 3/8" mahogany saturated in West Epoxy and sheathed with 2 layers of 6oz fiberglass cloth with West Epoxy resin. The exterior finish is white AwlGrip. Frames and keelson are laminated mahogany. The deck is Teak laid over mahogany plywood accented with bright finished mahogany trim.

The only fault the second owner found with the boat was her upwind performance, so the third, and current owner had the original "Scheel Keel" replaced with a 18" deeper one designed by Sparkman and Stephens and cast by Mars Metals.
