Overview

SKA is one of the popular C&C designed, Baltic 39's. With 74 yachts built the 39 was the most successful design at Baltic Yachts. A classic racer/cruiser, Ska has many significant upgrades throughout the years. The past three summers the current cruised her single-handed from Mattapoisett to Maine and back. She is a dream to sail short-handed and the added speed under power enables one to get quickly to a destination in just about any conditions. Ska is a strongly built vessel meant for punishing North Sea conditions. She is a great performance cruiser/racer built for coastal or blue water sailing. She doesn’t fail to impress in any harbor with her beautiful lines and strong construction. SKA has been sailing summers along the New England coast, with the same owner for the past 25 years, spending her winters on land. With a new engine installed in 2013, she is in excellent mechanical condition, along with her sails and rigging, with her decks receiving a recent AWL-Grip finish 2014.....SKA is a great boat for family cruising or coming Newport to Bermuda race or a Trans-Atlantic passage.
Price just reduced. Bottom painted & Hull washed and waxed.....along with her recently awlgriped deck and new diesel engine, SKA is ready for the sailing season(see Full Spec and Misc Upgrades).

Accommodations

SKA spacious interior is beautifully finished in hand-rubbed teak and features two private cabins forward and aft. The fwd cabin has one double V-berth with filler and full hanging locker, and the aft cabin has a double & single berth with full hanging locker and storage compartments. In the main salon, there are two pilot berth, plus comfortable settee berths. A teak dining table is a drop down style which seats six easily. The galley has a 3-burner stove (new, 2013) along with a propane detector, with a remote solenoid and alarm (new, 2013). The gas lines were also all replaced in 2013. Ska has an icebox as well as a large refrigeration unit located under the top of the stand-up style nav station. Wet hanging locker, two large hanging lockers, and various other lockers/bins provide ample storage.

Galley

Hot and cold pressure water, three stainless steel fresh water tanks for a total of 106 gallons; two bilge pumps (one in cockpit, one in galley area); a large 25-gallon holding tank with a Sealand T-pump for pumping the holding tank when outside the 3-mile limit (new, 2005). A new, larger IsoTherm hot water tank was added in 2013. The enables water to be heated from either shore-power, a generator, or from the engine.

Electronics

All new Raymarine electronics (2009) relocated to a Navpod on the Edson pedestal. These include wind instruments, and a tri-data display for speed, depth, and water temperature. Auto helm 7000 hydraulic autopilot.

Deck Equipment

In 2013 the teak deck was replaced by a non-skid deck and the work was monitored by an independent surveyor throughout the process. A blue sprayed, cockpit table, and stern mounted swim ladder. The swim ladder was modified so it stands a few inches further off the transom, making it easier to go up and down the ladder from a dinghy or when swimming off the stern.

Engine and Mechanical

A new 39 hp Yanmar (virtually the same weight and dimensions as the old 23 hp MD-11C) was installed in 2013 along with a new alternator, muffler, shaft, cutlass bearing, and a classic MaxProp. New control cables, battery cables, fuel filter housings, and a larger water intake were also installed, along with numerous other additions. The new engine and MaxProp enables Ska to cruise over 7 knots - important when beating out of a harbor with the wind on the nose.
