Overview

Price reduced!  Owner has returned to a land based life.

Jaru is fully equipped to cruise the world's oceans having just spent two years travelling between Fort Lauderdale and the British Virgin Islands. Her water maker, diesel heater, conservative and simple sail plan make her the ideal vessel for cruising anywhere in the world.  Jaru is equipped with top quality components throughout (See Specifications for full listing). Her design and layout is simple and efficient resulting in low maintenance, minimum hassel and low cruising costs so you can spend more time cruising. Jaru's engine room is a cruisers dream with easy access, is well laid out and very clean. The reliable Yanmar engine has low hours and does not have a single leak of any kind. Jaru's quality aluminum construction can be seen in its soft chine sides, embedded winches, extruded port holes and a host of other fabrication details. Her interior shows off her warm cherry and cedar panelling detailed to the highest standard. Jaru has a good balance of storage for dry goods, equipment, spare parts, water and fuel. Jaru's aluminum construction also results in an extremely dry boat. The bilge and all other parts of the hold remain bone dry regardless of sea conditions or torrential down pours. Jaru is built with 24 opening hatches and portholes and 4 pilothouse type skylights resulting in an exceptionally bright and airy interior.

Jaru is now in Fort Lauderdale, FL and ready for sale.  The happy owners have completed a two year adventure and have returned to a land based life.

Construction

Jaru was built by Fair-Dinkum in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Designed by Philipe Subrero, a French Naval Architect, Jaru is a safe solid aluminum world-class cruiser. Jaru is constructed with 5000 and 6000 series aluminum. Computer lofting was used so all framing is exact. Three inch t-bars run longitudinal with nine inch spacing providing extreme strength for the hull and deck. The fin keel, skeg, balanced rudder and hull are constructed with 1/4" aluminum plate. The freeboard is 3/16" aluminum plate. The deck, doghouse and cockpit are 1/8" aluminum plate.

The entire hull is coated with a minimum of three inches of grade A fire retardant foam insulation keeping the yacht cool in the summer and warm in the winter. A Webasto hot water heating system provides heat during the cooler months and heats the hot water.

The interior is lined with 1/8" marine grade mahogany and sealed with S1 to ensure no moisture will penetrate the wood. All interior wood construction including bulkheads and framing is S1 sealed. Bulkheads are epoxied and bolted to the frames.

Chain plates are 3/4" 6000 series aluminum plate.

Two feet back from the bow and two feet up the freeboard is a self-contained water-tight crash compartment. A crash compartment extends 5.5 feet back from the bow. This space is accessed from the foredeck and is used for a storage locker.

Remarks

Jaru is a serious blue water cruising sail boat built to withstand the rigors of offshore sailing. Her saloon is warmly decorated with yellow cedar and cherry paneling. Three private staterooms with plenty of ventilation provide comfortable accommodations to sleep six comfortably. A fully equipped galley is ideal and there is plenty of storage. Her unfinished aluminum hull makes for a low maintenance yacht perfect for long range cruising.
