Jaru was built by Fair-Dinkum in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Designed by Philipe Subrero, a French Naval Architect, Jaru is a safe solid aluminum world-class cruiser. Jaru is constructed with 5000 and 6000 series aluminum. Computer lofting was used so all framing is exact. Three inch t-bars run longitudinal with nine inch spacing providing extreme strength for the hull and deck. The fin keel, skeg, balanced rudder and hull are constructed with 1/4" aluminum plate. The freeboard is 3/16" aluminum plate. The deck, doghouse and cockpit are 1/8" aluminum plate.
The entire hull is coated with a minimum of three inches of grade A fire retardant foam insulation keeping the yacht cool in the summer and warm in the winter. A Webasto hot water heating system provides heat during the cooler months and heats the hot water.
The interior is lined with 1/8" marine grade mahogany and sealed with S1 to ensure no moisture will penetrate the wood. All interior wood construction including bulkheads and framing is S1 sealed. Bulkheads are epoxied and bolted to the frames.
Chain plates are 3/4" 6000 series aluminum plate.
Two feet back from the bow and two feet up the freeboard is a self-contained water-tight crash compartment. A crash compartment extends 5.5 feet back from the bow. This space is accessed from the foredeck and is used for a storage locker.
