THE “CATALAN BOAT”

At the start of the century, some 300 Catalan boats were sailing along the Roussillon coastline, carrying fisherman of sardines, tuna and anchovies. Today, these rustic but speedy ships, instantly recognizable by their distinctly triangular “Latina” sail are much more of a rare sight. The majority of the Catalan boat fleet have been saved and restored by collectors. Their rich quality of wood, charming colors and antique sails make these yachts a rare privilege for sailors and yachting enthusiasts.

THE “SAINT PIERRE”

The SAINT PIERRE was built by Louis Aversa in the French town of Sète in 1909. She is one of only two Catalan boats to have been officially classed as a “Historical monument” (“Monument historique”) in France. She represents, with a dignity that is merited by her grand old age, the many traditions practiced decades ago by the fisherman of Palavas.

THE “LATINA CUP” OF  PALAVAS :

The hull is thus the last construction in polyester, extracted, by the association Latina Cup of Palavas, of the mold established according to the plans of this famous boat: the “Saint Pierre”.

CONSTRUCTION (OBSERVING/RESPECTING THE TRADITION) AT THE BORG SHIPYARD IN THE OLD PORT OF MARSEILLE.

ENGINE: NANNI DIESEL CL 68 CV
