Overview

The March 2016 thaw allowed Brewers to go over the teak decks and make any repairs necessary, including bung and thiokol replacement.

A true classic, TILL is ready for her next owner to set off into blue water. Now held in an estate and seriously for sale, offers are encouraged.

The Sparkman & Stephens Swan 47 is considered by many to be the ultimate performance cruiser of its time, creating a benchmark for Swan to work off for all future designs. Launched in 1981, TILL, Hull Number 47 of this venerable model, has had only ONE OWNER and has always been professionally maintained at Brewer's Pilots Point yard.

Her "version II" layout includes an optional entrance to the aft cabin from the cockpit and a larger main salon. She has 3 cabins, with berths for 7 and 2 heads, all executed in typical Swan fashion and maintained through the years. Her well-thought out deck layout indicative of S&S influence. And her systems have been updated throughout the years, including the addition of a Mastervolt 3.5kW genset so that all systems can be run while sailing without the use of the main engine.

Accommodations

TILL sleeps seven, two in the aft cabin on single berths, three in the main salon, and two forward on folding single berths, which allow for sail and line storage when not in use.

The main companionway leads down into the main salon, which has a large L-shaped settee to port with a pilot berth outboard. To starboard in the main salon is settee , flanked by storage forward and outboard. A Swan folding table near centerline allows the whole crew to convene for a meal.

A full navigation station is to starboard of the main companionway and the galley is to port. Through the galley is access to the aft stateroom which has port and starboard single berths and an enclosed head. A separate aft companionway provides access to the cockpit.

Forward of the main salon to port is a head with shower, opposite of which is additional storage and the cleverly located Mastervolt genset. Still forward is the third cabin with folding berths, which has adequate space and storage to double as a sail locker.

The interior is beautifully constructed in typical Swan fashion with bright-finished teak abound and comfortable upholstery in nautical tones. A teak and holly sole completes the fit-out.

Hull & Deck General

The hull is from female molded GRP. The lead ballast fin keel is attached to the heavy laminate of the molded keel based by stainless steel bolts. The mast is keel-stepped onto a robust galvanized steel i-beam that bears on transverse floors and links to the main forward bulkhead.

The deck is also female molded GRP, bonded to the hull with the toenail fastenings through the hull-deck joint. The main decks, cabin tops and cockpit seats and sole are high density foam cored GRP. The main decks, cabin tops and cockpit seats and sole have a teak overlay, secured with screws and bungs. The cabin windows are tempered glass, with stainless steel surrounds. Construction is to a high standard, typical of Swan of the era, and is well-proven.
