Overview

Chambesy's  current owners have enjoyed her for the last 20 years and sailed her largely on the Chesapeake Bay. She has been well maintained over her lifetime and it shows! They undertook some major upgrades in 2009 - 2011 and again in 2017. She has low engine and generator hours and her sails are still crisp.  This centerboard version gives you the best of both worlds - you can gunkhole with the centerboard up (4'9") or drop the centerboard to 8'5" for performance sailing.

The Tartan 40 has a wonderful sailing hull and is built for fast, sea-kindly sailing in all weather conditions. Chambesy has a stunning blue hull and cuts a fine figure on the water. The interior wood is warm and traditional and the accommodations, 2 cabin-1 head, are well appointed.

UPGRADES INCLUDE:

  • Yanmar 54HP engine (2011) - less than 250 hours
  • NextGen 3.5KW generator (2011) - 29 hours

Chambesy is not to be missed!

Accommodations

Chambesy is based on the Plan A layout with a full, aft-facing nav station to port and a fully-enclosed quarter cabin opposite to starboard. The quarter berth cabin is spacious with numerous drawers, lockers and shelves plus a cushioned dressing seat, mirror and counter. The galley is to port and provides the cook with secure bracing even in the roughest seas. It segues into the Nav Station which is tucked in under the cockpit.  A wet locker/hanging locker is opposite the galley to starboard just aft of the beautifully appointed main salon which has a C-shaped settee to port, round a dining table and Pullman-style settee opposite to starboard.  Forward of the main salon, to port, is the head compartment  with a full mirror, sink, separate shower stall and head. Abundant drawers and louvered cabinets for storage.

Opposite the head to starboard are two large hanging lockers with drawers and bins beneath. Further forward a large V-berth with a bi-fold door for privacy, dressing seat and ample shelves and drawers . Access to the chain locker forward is via another louvered door in the forepeak.
