Accommodations

For a long time Americans have been wanting more space inside of open center consoles. A lot of manufacturers have added cabins to their berths in leui of storage space. But the Barracuda has a small pilothouse and a cabin to the front with a bed and bathroom.

To get to the pilothouse, you simply have to step less than a foot down through sliding doors. In the pilothouse there is over six feet of head room and a perpendicular windshield. Bowed glass improves sightlines on the right side of the helm. The helm console has a neat design with gadgets on the top and a flat monitor before the wheel with a multifunction display. Natural light shines in from a tinted hatch above, and there is also a refrigerator below the seats with lockers on each side.

Above the bed there is 39 inches of headroom at the farthest point reducing gradually to 15 inches at the foot of the bed. The bathroom has 5 feet of headroom.

Access for fishing is reduced by the pilothouse, but interior space seems like more of an advantage in this area. The cockpit has a bench with three large storage compartments in the base. There is a bait preparation area, complete with a sink and cutting board built into the far bulkhead. Additionally, there are holders for your rods and tackle boxes in the area.

Construction

The Beneteau company creates competitive vessels at a basic price. The Barracuda line is crafted with standard fiberglass methods. The hull is completed with an interior liner and a deck. The outboard made by Yamaha is in a great area, and the layout of the cockpit lets the transitional couch fold forward for slanting the outboard.

The Barracuda stands alone with its odd shaped bow design and the wooden inserts in the cockpit. She’s functional and appealing.
