Monte Carlo 6 Yacht Review

The Monte Carlo 6 was created for the purpose of expanding the brand. The Groupe Beneteau made an enormous rave with their five amazing vessels which were called the Monte Carlo Yachts (MCYs), the vessels were between 65 and 105 feet and were built in Italy. People looked out to see if they would be able to create smaller vessels which were economical yet luxurious and of good quality like the MCYs.
The company did not disappoint; they not only created a smaller line of vessels, but they were also used as models to show how brand expansion should be.

Accommodations

The MC6 employed most of the MCYs designs in its make from the leather to the chrome drawer pulls to the etched-glass stairway panel, the upholstery fabrics, the plumbing and bath fixtures. The interior is almost a carbon copy version of the MCY65; the layout follows the same plan from the galley to starboard at the aft to the single helm seat which has been raised higher to provide clearer sightlines. A big dinette is located in the middle and can comfortably seat eight people. The flying bridge, which is the best feature, is very large, and although it doesn’t possess a power moonroof like the other 6’s sisterships, its fantastic view is accentuated by large expanses of glass around the main deck. The living space on the lower deck also carries the same plan as the MCYs but in a toned down fashion. It houses three staterooms- the full beam master located aft with an en suite head, the large forward VIP with a head of its own, and a starboard bunk located between the other two rooms and has a head which can also be used as a day head.

Construction

The MC6 and her sister ships are not made in the same facility as the MCYs. They are constructed in the same way as other powerboats made by Beneteau. Lamination is done using high quality resins and fabrics, the fiberglass is hand-laid, the hull strength is guaranteed using full-length stringers and chemically and mechanically bonded joinery for the hull-to-deck joint. Other materials used, however, follow the MCY example from the fabrics and leather to the carpets and the plumbing fixtures. High-quality synthetics are used to make the countertops and the vanity sinks. The MC6 uses the Cummins Zeus pod-drive system. This system creates more space for the interior by moving the engine to the far rear. The laminates surrounding the IPS pods have been given special upgrades to further secure the hull strength.

Performance

The MC6 makes use of one engine package, the 600-horsepower Cummins QSC 8.3 Zeus pod drive which makes it unique. It is very light and easy to handle despite it being the biggest Monte Carlo. Her top speed was exceptional at 28 knots and planned at 14.4 knots (2,175 rpm). The standard Zeus auto-trim system allowed the helmsman to hold a running attitude from any speed to WOT. The fuel burn is normal for a boat its size. The single engine package has made it easy for the MC6 to maintain its acoustical insulation fully. The sound level is 68dB when idle and at full throttle rises to 77, and it is 74dB at cruising speed of 2250 rpm. These are very reasonable sound levels just like that of the MCYs.
